Pamaban Swamigal  History: Partial info

Pamaban Swamigal born, In the year of 1848 Saivite family in Rameswaram district, village called Pamban, the kid was named Appavu but later became referred to as Pamban Swami. In his school days, he was excellent in his studies and other activities too.

When he was 13 years old, he was induced to write down the poems on Lord Muruga, which he wrote immediately on a palm leaf during a facile pen in his coconut estate. He was writing at least one poem a day, a temple priest named Seddu Madhava Iyer marveled After seeing his poem, at the young boy's knowledge of Tamil & his faith in Lord Murugan. Later he was given upanyasam on the holy mantra on Vijaya Dasami festival day at Agni Tirtham ,Rameswaram seashore temple and was made him to read Sanskrit by his guru Seddu Madhava Iyer.

Pamban Swamigal was very much interested in the holy life, his parents were felt that its uncomfortable and serious, so that his parents and guru Seddu Madhava Iyer were keen to urge him to get married soon within the year 1878. he married Kalimuthami; they had 1 son and 2 daughters. Even after marriage Pamban Swami lived sort of a saint, mostly doing pujas and prayers. After his father's death Pamban Swamigal took over the closed corporation . He won many legal cases associated with his business by the grace of Lord Murugan.

One night Pamban Swami's daughter was crying because of illness. Her mother requested Pamban Swami to something, but he refused and informed his wife to pray to Lord Murugan for help and began his meditation to Lord Murugan. She did as he told. After sometime Pamban Swami saw the kid was not crying and was in asleep . When Pamban Swami asked the mother about the change, she replied that after her prayer to Lord Murugan, a saintly figure came inside the house and applied vibhuti to the child and went away. From that moment the child was cured. He realized that the Lord Murugan came and helped him at theirs request.

One day a friend of Pamban Swamigal informed him that he was going to Palani temple, Pamban Swamigal also wanted to go to Palani without informing to his family and left them. When his friend asked him, about he had permission, Pamban Swami said 'Yes' and lied to his friend.  On the day Lord Murugan appeared before him with a smiling face and said " If I would like your presence at palani temple, I could have done it easily. there's no reason for you to lie. Will be able to call you when the time comes. Then he asked Pamban Swami to vow that he wouldn't attend Palani without his permission.

In the year of 1891 Pamban Swamigal wrote 'Shanmuga Kavacam', strong hymn of 30 verses composed for the advantage of Lord Murugan's devotees to guard them from illness of body, mind also from foes, wild beasts, poisonous creatures, demons, devils & biting insects. multiple instances proven that the 'Shanmuga Kavacam' verses are most effective. If one recite it with heart and soul , faith & devotion to Lord Murugan, the results are going to be swift/proven and miraculous.

Also in the year of 1891 Pamban Swamigal composed Pancamrita Varnam . Lord Murugan said in Tiruchendur that "I'm going to be present physically, wherever the song is sung on a pleasing note." If anyone does puja inside the temple  by reciting this poem, it's equivalent to doing abhisekam and puja.

        ஸ்ரீமத் பாம்பன் குமரகுருதாச ஸ்வாமிகள் அருளிய பகை கடிதல் என்னும் இந்த திருப்பதிகத்தை நாள்தோறும் காலை மலை என இரு வேளையும் பக்தியுடனபாராயணம் செய்தால் அன்னாருடைய தீராத பகையும் விலகி செல்வ செழிப்புடன் வாழ்வார் என்பது ஐதீகம் .

 

        இந்த பதிகத்திலே ஸ்வாமிகள் வேலனுடைய வாகனமாகிய மயிலை விளித்து & நீ இல்லாமல் முருகன் எங்கும் செல்லமாட்டானாமே எனவே முருகனை நீ நன்றாக அறிவாய் அவரை அழைத்துவந்து இந்த அடியவன் முன் தோன்றி அருள்புரிய செய்வாயாக என்று பாடுகிறார்.
